Five of us went to The Landing At Mackeys for a Sunday lunch via the water. Lunch and the boat ride were to be the highlight of the day. The trip on the water was excellent, not so much for lunch. It took a long time to be seated despite a number of empty tables. Once seated we placed our orders with the waitress, simple sandwiches/hamburgers, two of which were identical. After a long wait only four of the five meals arrived. We brought this to the attention of the waitress. When everyone who received, a meal had finished eating, the final hamburger arrived. An apology was offered but no explanation. As to the “rare and medium rare” hamburgers, they were anything but “rare and medium rare.” What is the point of going out to eat together if you can’t eat at the same time while? I would think very hard about going to The Landing At Mackeys on a Sunday. I am not sure I would. As to Mackeys Marina and yard per se that Joe runs/owns, this is an excellent place with folk there with a “can do” and caring attitude and approach to the business of boats of all kind. I have gone there before and will be back again.

This was our 1st visit here and we were very pleased with the food and service. The portions are large. Our server, Olivia, was friendly and attentive. The setting is quite nice, with boats all around...just off the Albemarle Sound. We will definitely be back.

It's a wonderful place with a relaxed atmosphere and extremely nice waitstaff. It was my second time with a girlfriend, she got me hooked. I plan to go back again and again

I do believe in supporting local restaurants. If you follow me on Google Maps you can find some really good places to eat. This is a cool place, off the beaten path, with the small town atmosphere and is just what I love. Our favorite was the Bang Bang Shrimp Plate. The Mackeys Shrimp & Grits was good. The All-American Burger was great as well. Seems to be a favorite with the locals. The staff work together to make sure that customers were served well. It is right in a small boat yard. Took a minute to speak with whom I believe to be the owner. Great place to take a break and take in some of the NC coastal water ways.

Talk about a welcome surprise. The Landings at Mackeys far exceeded my expectations. You will not be disappointed in the menu and quality of food. Will certainly return. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out. You can even get here by boat and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Great lunch for 4 on a Saturday afternoon. Fast friendly service, Valerie, thank you again. Philly cheesesteak was on the special board. Fish of the day was flounder, one plate and one sandwich. Fried pickles appetizer. Crab cake sandwich. Various sides. Although nothing stands out as absolutely memorable, food was proper temperature, seasoned well, tasty. 4 empty plates. All in all worth the drive. Stunningly beautiful location, various boats in and out of the water and a boat launch sharing the restaurant and marina parking lot. We will stop when along that way again. Some negative reviews here, hard to believe same place I visited. Good customer service starts with being a good customer.

Awesome spot to grab dinner. Friendly staff, good prices, and darn good food. We had appetizers of hush puppies, calamari, and fried green beans. All were good. Dinner was soft shell crabs, clam strips, chicken wings, fried shrimp, mushroom burger, and shrimp burger. Everything was good and the portions were plentiful. Danielle did a great job keeping our drinks up and making sure we had everything we needed.

Food was good, service was excellent and polite. If passing through or staying nearby I would go here as many other choices are further away from Roper. The staff said come back at 7 for karaoke it's a fun time. We weren't able to but it was a nice gesture. It's hidden away off the main roadway but too far of needing something not fast food nearby in Plymouth or driving to Edenton.
